Patrons of the Prado is thrilled to present Masterpiece 2024

Please join the Patrons of the Prado at Mythical MASTERPIECE 2024 Enchantment at the Acropolis on Saturday, July 27, as we engage in an Athenian Odyssey appreciating the art, class, and culture of Ancient Greece! It will be an unforgettable night of Epicurean Elegance and Dionysian delight at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, as we celebrate our beloved Balboa Park and those who devote themselves to preserving the Prado as an iconic center for art, theatre, science, and history.

Once a year on a starlit summer evening, our all-volunteer organization orchestrates the most anticipated fundraiser of the season to raise funds to support Nine educational and cultural centers on the Prado in Balboa Park. Funds raised in 2024 will benefit our Nine beneficiaries.

Patrons of the Prado has been committed to raising unrestricted funds for these ten beneficiaries. These grant funds allow them the flexibility to address their strongest needs. Over the past 25 years, the Patrons of the Prado is pleased to have raised in total contributions $5,380,655.00 for our beneficiaries. Included in those funds is $989,790.00 that has supported the "Bucks4Buses" program, launched in 2012. Our "Bucks4Buses" initiative provides transportation and educational access for San Diego school children to experience the world-class treasures of Balboa Park, many for the first time.

Supporting an extraordinary collection of arts and cultural institutions at Balboa Park — the nation’s largest cultural urban park.

The Prado is Balboa Park’s central promenade, a crown jewel famous for its historical artisan-crafted facades, lush gardens, sparkling pools and flowing fountains. The area is alive with highly prized attractions, exhibitions and performances. The Prado is provides a world-class cultural and educational experience for the millions of locals and visitors from around the world who frequent Balboa Park each year.

Since 1997, Patrons of the Prado has funded nearly $5 million and provided tens of thousands of all-volunteer hours to benefit the distinguished array of arts, science and cultural organizations that occupy the Prado in Balboa Park.

You can help make an impact for a wide range of Balboa Park’s cultural landmarks and the future of our community’s arts, science and culture by supporting Patrons of the Prado. Our annual Masterpiece Gala is one of San Diego’s premier black tie charity fundraising events, and is held in July.

Our Impact

Your Donations At Work

For twenty-five years, Patrons of the Prado has remained committed to supporting the cultural institutions of Balboa Park.

In 2021, our gift of $186,000 was equally distributed among our beneficiaries to provide unrestricted freedom for each organization to meet their most critical needs. Additionally, we provided $94,000 in Bucks4Buses grants, funding cultural and science education for students both virtually and in the Park. Over 200,000 students have experienced our beneficiaries’ education programs, with over 65% being Title 1 students.

In the past twenty-five years, Patrons has raised close to $5 million to support arts, science, and culture in Balboa Park.

We look forward to augmenting our beneficiaries’ efforts to educate, inspire and instill cultural appreciation in San Diego in 2022 and beyond.
